Ice Age animals recreated on new British stamps

BEASTS that roamed Britain tens of thousands of years ago during the Ice Age are featured on Royal Mail stamps to be issued on March 21 2006.

Remains of all of the creatures featured on the stamps have been found in the UK, including a woolly rhino fossil under Battersea Power Station and a woolly mammoth under The Strand in London ...

Guernsey adds world champ

AMONG a few changes to Guernsey's 2006 stamp programme is the addition of an issue to honour racing driver Andy Priaulx who won the 2005 World Touring Car Championship for BMW.

Born and bred in Guernsey, the 29-year-old started racing in karts when he was eight years old.

Sri Lanka recalls tsunami

ONE year on from the tsunami catastrophe Sri Lanka has issued these four stamps which show the train that was derailed with the loss of 1500 lives, including a postal worker responsible for mail on the train, the post office at Kalmunai, a lighthouse about to be swamped, and the waves hitting the shore. All four stamps are also in a miniature sheet

Jersey 's Sea Shells stamp is another world first

ON April 4 2006, Jersey Post will release a new set of postage stamps in its Jersey Marine Life stamp series ... The entire issue has been enhanced with the use of various special printing techniques. Certain aspects of the six individual sea shell postage stamps have been highlighted using 'thermography' which helps give the sea shells an almost 3D appearance ...
