Stanley Gibbons profits and dividend up a third
THE Stanley Gibbons Group Limited, incorporating Stanley Gibbons, Fraser's Autographs, and Collector Café, has announced its audited results for the year ended December 31 2006.
Highlights of chairman Paul Fraser's statement included:
• Profit before tax up 32.9% to £3,746,000 (2005: £2,819,000);
• Recommended final dividend of 2.5p net per share, giving a total net dividend for the year of 4p (2005: 3p net per share) up 33.3%; ...

DESPITE being sentenced to prison for two-and-a-half years, convicted stamp thief Patrick O'Donovan is still at large having failed to appear at Southwark Crown Court for sentencing on February 15 2007. He is believed to have escaped to Serbia ...
Mugged after Philatex
A mugging took place after Philatex on Friday February 23. The victim, Bob Harris, was attacked near his home in north London.

Romania goes missing in Munich
MISSING, presumed stolen, from Trevor Pateman's stand at the Munich stamp fair on March 1 2007 is this item: Romania 1862 6 para red handstruck (Mi 9), strip of five on cover, cancelled Franco Vaslui, some damage to stamps, ex-lot 20133 December 2006 David Feldman auction of classic Romania.

Gray's Kangaroos leap to A$7,158,974
A TWO-DAY auction of Australian 'Kangaroo' stamps by Shreves of New York on February 22 and 23 set several world records. Shreves hammered the multi-Gold Medal winning Arthur W Gray Kangaroo stamp collection. It grossed US$5,584,000 including the 15% buyers' premium. On the day this converted to A$7,158,974.00, or £2,886,683 ...

SCADS counters Internet scams
IF you want to see some of the fake material currently being offered via the Internet check out the US website for SCADS (Stamp Collectors Against Dodgy Sellers) www.scads.org. Basically, the purpose of the website, formed March 23 2002, was to combat a group of eBay users who bought low-grade US stamps and then resold them after being 'improved'...
