Albert Boerma - Europe

Classic con in Kirn
Two German philatelic magazines (not Philatelie (BDPh) nor Deutsche Briefmarken-Revue) published in February a two-page advertisement announcing an auction on March 15 2007 for which it invited high quality material to be offered. The name of the firm, 'Europin-Werthandel', of Kirn (Westphalia) was previously unknown .... Arnim Hölzer, new APHV president, acted immediately with a warning to his members and a fax to all philatelic institutions and the press that the firm had done a moonlight flit from Kirn ...

£4.64 million stamps to charity
On June 11 2007 in New York a rather amazing stamp auction took place. San Francisco billionaire Bill Gross auctioned off his early Great Britain stamps. The stamps were invoiced to buyers at US$10,506,400. The auction had been anticipated to raise 'only' US$4 million. Gross and his wife Sue attended the sale, and were delighted with the result - they then presented their entire proceeds from the sale to a charity after the auction! ...

Linn's Stamp News started its annual survey of the retail stamp market in 1994. It appears to be the most widely watched model of the US stamp market as I know of no other survey or report that comes close. Here is a summary of the Linn’s report for last year, 2006 ...
