The facsimiles of the Mulready caricatures
The official Mulready envelopes and wrappers have received considerable attention in the latest Stanley Gibbons Specialised Part One Catalogue with many extra pages of new information and prices. However, the subject of the facsimiles of the caricatures as well as the caricatures themselves has been glossed over. So little information has been available on this subject, except for a book published by the Collectors Club of Chicago titled British Pictorial Envelopes of the 19th Century. Written and compiled by Charles Hahn, Ritchie Bodily and Chris Jarvis, I am indebted to them for much of the information in this article ...

Entire stock taken in car boot steal
Once again the subject of theft has reared its ugly head. At the Reading fair on July 1 dealer Julian Dunn had an album of Sports postcards stolen from his table ... losing one album in this way is very disheartening but losing an entire stock housed in 28 boxes has left dealer Helen Prescott devastated ...

Ken Baker - dealer for over 85 years!
On the busy new bulletin boardwww.stampboards.coma lively discussion took place in early June on the two pioneer Australian stamp magazines.
The Australian Stamp Monthly and Stamp News ... I am fortunate to have first issues of both in my library. Reading through the first 1930 volume of the ASM, I noted the large ads from stamp dealer Ken Baker, and they inspired this month's column. He must be the only person on Earth to have sold stamps for over 85 years?! ... Ken is now aged 95, is as sharp as a tack, and takes a mile walk each day from his Sydney downtown apartment. Ken assures me he is well on track to getting his 'Queen's Telegram' in a few years! ...

This was sent to me by a very knowledgeable friend evaluating the current stamp market situation. I told him that several correspondents were of the opinion that the stamp market is in a terrible state and that they were afraid that the long-term outlook is not good ...
