FROM December 3 to 5 the ‘MonacoPhil 2004’ international stamp exhibition was held in Monte-Carlo, and was probably the best of the five shows held so far. Monaco is favourably sited between France and Italy, and enjoys warm sunshine even in December. Add to these factors Monte-Carlo’s reputation as a place of luxury and prestige, its famous Casino, the F1 Grand Prix, and the memory of Grace Kelly, the film star wife of Prince Rainier III, so you would expect a stamp show there to be a cut above ...
