Colourful Cancels

THE United States Postal Service has brought colour to an area of philately where it didn’t exist. The first-day cancellation of selected stamps became effective January 6 2005 with the release of the Lunar New Year souvenir sheet.
According to David Failor, executive director of Stamp Services, the first-day digital colour Postmark “... will do for traditional black and white first-day postmarks as colour television has done for black-and-white TV by adding vibrant colour, clarity and definition previously unattainable.” ...
