Stampex - steady as she goes

WOULD you mind if I compare Stampex to a ship? Of course, not an air-craft carrier or battleship, this would befit an international like the one coming next year in Washington. No, more like a container ship carrying a rich, varied, and desirable collection of philatelic goods, from the cheap mass products churned out by pound-hungry post offices all over the world, to the jewels of philately - rarities, postal history, and special items for the real afficionados, but these would not be placed in a container, but in the purser's safe. So there they were, spread out on about a hundred counters and tempting collectors. Stampex sails against the wind and through choppy seas, but it docks safely - twice every year ...
