COMBINED STAMPEX/PHILATEX THE ANSWER?

HAVING read Otto Hornung's report ‘The London Magnet’ (PE April 2005) I feel that I must comment from my position of chairman of the Philatelic Traders’ Society.
Spring Stampex and Philatex both being held at the same time might well be great for the collectors, and even dealers who are not participating in either show, but it is not good for the organisers and, in many cases, the participants ...
The time may well come in the not too distant future when neither show can break even, and find themselves in a loss-making position. The trade is contracting, there are fewer dealers than ever before and one show under one roof may well be the answer.

Nigel Haworth
Chairman, Philatelic Traders’ Society
