EVENT ORGANISERS AROUND THE ROOMSGrosvenor (020 7379 8789) July 15: world sale reached a total of £627,482 (all prices quoted are inclusive of the buyer's premium). There was significant demand for material from the collection of the late Colonel Harvey, at one time the doyen of The Royal Philatelic Society London. The estimate on his France 1876-85 Peace and Commerce unissued 20c blue was £800 to £1000, but it was knocked down to its new owner for £5881 (lot 932) ... Apex (01342 833413) July 17: a very respectable total realisation of £250,000, considering the hot weather, was the best ever for a sale staged by Apex during the month of July. Over 400 room and postal bidders competed for a total of 1000 lots, including 400 mixed lots, and collections, plus 250 lots of GB singles ... Bonhams (020 7393 3890) August 2: notable realisations in this all-world sale were (all incl buyers' premiums): lot 53 , a n all world stock of Cinderella and Revenues issues in 26 stockbooks - £5640; l ot 213 , New Zealand 1862-64 correspondence to Edinburgh with a selection of Chalon frankings and instructional marks - £3995; l ot 323, ... Warwick & Warwick (01926 499031) August 3: general sale did not suffer from the holiday period at all, with strong competition throughout giving a total realisation of over £225,000. The mixed lots at the beginning of the sale always attract considerable attention and lot 3 with an estimate of £700 surprised the auctioneer by selling for £1880. Airmails , and in particular Concorde, were also in demand - lot 171 sold for an impressive £705 (estimate £150) ...
